When it comes to staying fit during winter, it’s important to have a plan and stick to it. Club Pilates is hosting a 90-day fitness challenge at participating studios nationwide, and to help Pilates enthusiasts out there develop their own healthy habits, we’ve put together these helpful tips and tricks to creating a solid fitness routine during the colder months.
One of the most difficult things about working out during winter is getting yourself to your local Club Pilates studio or nearby gym in the first place. It’s cold, it’s dark and sometimes, you just don’t feel like it. The best way to get over this hurdle is to schedule your workouts into your day, just like any other important meeting or engagement.
Whether it’s first thing in the morning or straight after work, set aside time for your workout and stick to it.
If you find it difficult to keep up with your workouts during winter, consider finding a workout buddy who can help motivate you and hold you accountable.
At Club Pilates, we offer group reformer classes that are perfect for working out with friends. Not only will you be able to support and encourage each other, but you’ll also be able to have some fun while getting fit!
One of the most common excuses for not working out is not having the right clothes. Club Pilates offers some of the most well-equipped and diverse studios in Australia, but even our members need quality Pilates-appropriate workout gear! Using the right types of clothing and equipment can make a big difference in your workout quality and how much you enjoy your session.
What clothing is appropriate for Pilates? Form-fitting clothing that won’t get in the way of your movements is ideal. You want to be able to see your body line and ensure that your instructor can see your alignment. Baggy clothing can actually be a safety hazard, as it increases the likelihood of getting caught on the reformer or other equipment.
As for shoes, we recommend socks with grippers or going barefoot. Shoes are not allowed on our reformers, as they can damage the delicate springs. If you must wear shoes for some reason, please bring clean sneakers that have never been worn outdoors – this will help keep our studios clean! Bringing a water bottle and towel is also essential, as you will likely break a sweat during your session!
